Free invoice template for photographers

Opens an invoice set up the way photographers bill: the shoot, the edited gallery, and add-on coverage as separate lines, so clients see exactly what they're paying for.

How to invoice as a photographer

  • Bill the shoot and the edit as separate lines. Post-production is real, time-consuming work. Splitting it out shows the value and stops clients treating a lump sum as negotiable.
  • Take a booking deposit. A non-refundable deposit (often 25–50%) secures the date. Show it as a paid line so the remaining balance is unambiguous.
  • Spell out usage rights. One line on what the client may do with the images — personal use, prints, commercial — prevents licensing disputes later.

Give every invoice a unique, sequential number (Billfold does this automatically) and clear payment terms. For the fields your country requires, see what legally has to be on an invoice.
